Available: June 2008 Sky House is a 18 ft by 48 ft cabin that contains a kitchen, living area, bath, bedroom, and studio loft. The outstanding location inspired the use of pine logs for building a design with an open plan and contemporary sense of light. From the deck, guests enjoy views of Hawk's Bill and Table Rock. Located on Jonas Ridge at the edge of the Pisgah National Forest, Sky House is less than five miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway, and a close drive from Boone, Grandfather, Sugar and Beech Mountains. Accommodations include down comforters, faux fur throw blankets, outdoor wood fire heated hot tub, terry cloth bathrobes, and Aveda toiletries.
Inspired by the climber's ranch in the Teton's, Sky House was built
near Linville Gorge. Linville Gorge is the wildest, most varied
climbing wilderness in the southeastern United States. It is the
largest wilderness in North Carolina and contains approximately 12,000
acres. Its plant and animal communities are very diverse. The Gorge
continues to shelter rare stretches of virgin forest. A knowing
climber can find an easy top rope for his kids or a long committing
multi-pitch route for a full days adventure. In winter, the Gorge has
a number of beautiful ice climbs. Sky House is ideal for a couple's
weekend get away, a family retreat, or a climber's base camp.
